Dido原名Florian Cloud De Bounevialle Armstrong，1971年12月25日出生于
英国伦敦。Dido是一名非常有音乐天才的女歌手，在她6岁的时候就进入了伦敦的
音乐学校Guildhall School of Music学习，在这里她开始学习弹钢琴和拉小提琴
，并且从小Dido就和她的哥哥Rollo一起参与录制音乐唱片的工作。十几岁的时候
，Dido一直频繁的在各种不同的古典乐团做歌手，但是一直没有太出色的表现，后
来她又开始在伦敦地区的一些不知名的乐队做歌手，直到1995年，她的音乐之路才
真正走上了正规。

　　1995年，Dido加盟了由出色的舞曲制作人，哥哥Rollo组建的舞曲乐队
Faithless，在这里她不但从事音乐活动，而且还在其余的时间里努力学习攻读一
个法学学位。1996年，乐队发行了第一张专辑《Reverence》，这张专辑在全世界
范围内的销量超过500万张，在后来长达一年半的巡演途中，Dido不仅开始为乐队
写歌，而且还在发展自己的音乐，她习惯把原声的流行乐和超自然的电子音乐结合
在一起表现在自己的音乐中，并在乐队1998年的专辑《Sunday 8pm》发行之后，录
制了第一张个人专辑《No Angel》。

　　这张《No Angel》由Dido的哥哥Rollo担任制作人，并且首先在英国被
Cheeky Records唱片公司出版发行，到了1999年6月1日由Arista唱片公司在美国发
行，事实证明，这张专辑在美国所获得的成功甚至超过了在她的家乡英国所取得的
成绩，在2001年爬升到了Billboard 200排行榜的第四位，并且这张专辑先后在三
个国家成为销量排行榜冠军，在九个国家打入了前十名，保守估计全球销量已经超
过1200万张，几乎有晚宴的地方就会有Dido的歌曲响起。后来，专辑中的单曲《
Here With Me》成为了电视台的电视系列剧《Roswell》的主题曲，并且另一首单
曲《Thank You》入选了著名影星格温妮丝·帕特洛(Gwyneth Paltrow)的电影《
Sliding Doors》的原声大碟。不过在Dido的专辑销量飙升的背后，给予她巨大推
动作用的却是说唱天王Eminem。Dido的单曲《Thank You》在Eminem的单曲《Stan
》中被采用，这成了Dido的专辑《No Angel》的销量在发行两年后的2001年达到高
峰的直接原因。

　　2003年9月30日，Dido的第二张专辑《Life for Rent》终于和歌迷见面。
